Approach and orientation:

Andrea is passionate about working with infants, children and young people, helping them develop and grow.

Play and other creative methods, such as the Reggio Emilia one, are a crucial part of the way Andrea works. These approaches encourage creative expression through the use of nonstructured materials. The sessions are based on the child’s unique needs and are run at their own pace, which are useful ways in helping patients express what they are going through.

Andrea offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is an evidence-based approach for working with a range of social and emotional difficulties in children and young people.

CBT emphasises the role cognition plays in determining how people feel and behave. It is a collaborative approach where the children and young peoples’ needs are respected, taken into account and their participation is highly encouraged throughout the process. CBT is goal focused and aims to help children and young people develop different life skills, coping strategies and promoting self-efficacy, independence, and self-esteem.

Philosophy on counselling and psychotherapy:

Andrea believes human beings are biopsychosocial, which means a combination of our genes, our psychological state and our environment. She therefore works holistically, taking into account the cognitive, emotional and physical components and the environment.

Sometimes, individuals experience difficult situations when dealing with life’s ever present adversities, which can generate pain and suffering. Andrea firmly believes that those circumstances can be transformed into self-discovery and personal growth, with motivation and appropriate guidance.

Andrea provides a safe space for patients to express their feelings, play and learn different coping strategies and behaviours to deal with new challenges.
