Philosophy on counselling and psychotherapy

Whilst many people experience times in their lives when they feel overwhelmed by particular events or situations, there are others who ‘find life difficult’ and struggle to manage the inevitable challenges that life brings. Whatever brings someone to consider working with a therapist, it is important to find a therapist whom they can come to trust and who is able to understand not only the nature of their problem but who can also advise as to the best way forward for that particular individual. This may be a small number of sessions to address a particular problem and help that person to get back on track or, it may be longer-term therapy that will address the underlying issues that are preventing them from living their life to the full.
