Specialist in Autism Spectrum issues

I have been a psychotherapist and counsellor in private practice for over 20 years gaining a wealth of experience working with individuals, couples and groups. I am the co- founder and a lead therapist at Mind Garden Therapy. Previously, I was an Associate of Life Story Therapeutic Centre, Reading and worked as a consultant therapist for The Wellbeing Centre at Microsoft, Reading.

I am an experienced supervisor for individuals and groups, with success in assisting supervisees to gain their accreditation.

I have broad experience in Autism Spectrum conditions, specialising in working with clients with High Functioning Autism and Aspergers. I am a therapeutic consultant for Autism Oxford.

What do I offer?

I offer counselling and psychotherapy, both short and long term, with individuals and couples on most life issues.

Also, supervision to trainees and therapists, offering experienced support during the process of accreditation.

Approach and orientation

My orientation is Integrative. I combine a Person Centred core approach with CBT and EFT tools. By drawing on my training and experience of different modalities, I tailor my response to meet the unique needs of each client.

Philosophy on Counselling and Psychotherapy

I believe that our responses to life choices and situations are in our own hands. Sometimes life experiences shock, or cause us to get stuck and we need help to understand the baffling array of emotions we are attempting to resolve. To find solutions and personal peace we need to access our whole self, head and heart and spirit.

In this busy and often isolated world counselling and psychotherapy provides a safe, supportive setting, where life difficulties may be explored in a confidential space at your own pace. In undertaking counselling you are gifting yourself time to sit and hear yourself think, feel and reflect in the company of an experienced professional. My aim is to assist you through this unique collaborative process to gain a greater insight and understanding of the nature and origins of your emotional distress and inner conflicts. In learning new skills you will discover and free the inner resourcefulness that will equip you to live life more fully.

About Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

By tapping on the meridian pressure points and working closely with body/mind messages, EFT tunes into and resolves distress that has become trapped in the body’s energy field. EFT is a specialist technique that can be used separately or alongside counselling and psychotherapy.

EFT aims to alleviate symptoms of distress by reframing the original experience. This gentle process minimises causing further distress to the individual. It is effective for any feared experience that engenders deep feelings of anxiety. For example it is effective for Obsessional Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and many others.

It can provide a new approach when all else has failed.
