Introduction

I work with children, teenagers and adults who are carrying the impact of early disruption, loss, or trauma. My approach is calm, direct, and grounded in almost 30 years of clinical experience, so whether you’re a parent worried about your child, an adult ready to look at old patterns, or a professional seeking the right specialist, you’re in experienced hands.

How I work
I’m a UKCP Registered Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. I draw on attachment theory, developmental trauma research, and somatic approaches to work with what’s happening beneath the surface, not just the presenting behaviour. I’m also an EMDR Europe Accredited therapist with additional accreditation in Child and Adolescent EMDR which allows  me to offer trauma processing directly rather than referring you elsewhere, when it is called for.

A specialism in adoption and complex family trauma
Much of my work centres on adopted children and their families. I’ve spent years as a parent consultant and trainer for Adoption UK, PAC-UK and PACT running support groups, webinars, and training on Child-to-Parent Violence, school-related breakdowns, and trauma-informed therapeutic parenting. This means I don’t just treat the child in the room, I understand the whole system around them, working with carers as partners, not bystanders.

I hold a specialist role with SWAAY Child & Adolescent Services, working with some of the most complex and sensitive referrals in child and adolescent practice. These include safeguarding-related presentations and support for survivors of sexual violence and assault.

What to expect
Sessions are tailored to the needs of the person in front of me. This might be through approaches such as play, sandtray work, and other creative methods for younger clients. It could also include a more direct, talking-based approach for teenagers and adults, with EMDR where trauma processing will help. Throughout, the priority is building enough safety and trust that real change becomes possible, at a pace that fits the person, not the model.

If you’re weighing up whether I’m the right fit for yourself, your child, or a client you’re considering referring, I’m always happy to have a brief conversation first.
