Introduction
I have been a BACP accredited humanistic therapist since 2007. In addition to my solid humanistic training, I adopt a person centered / psychodynamic / eclectic approach.
Individual Work
My work with adults focuses on the here and now or simply exploring your history when this is relevant and helpful. I adapt my approach to your learning style; therefore I can be direct/challenging/slow paced/goal-based/solution-focused or simply allow you to move at the pace you require. I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, loss, trauma, abuse, parenting, fostering, neurodiversity, self-harm ,and relationships.
Couples Work
In couples work you will bring a unique relationship, hoping to attend to each other’s wants, needs, cultures, and any other differences. Key elements of progress include listening, compromising, and balancing while holding each others’ perspectives in mind. With couples, I extract and adapt elements of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to complement my humanistic approach.
My previous employment and experience included individuals/groups, fostered children and families in various educational settings and social care throughout London, Reading, and West Berkshire.
Family Work
I offer family counselling with one child and one parent or care-giver.
Within the therapy room you will encounter honesty, empathy, warmth, and a genuine human connection, enabling you to work towards the process of self-actualization. I imagine you are here to follow, examine, or create your own path and I will aim to walk alongside, guiding you through the joys and complexities that your life has presented. The aim is always to address what you need from therapy. Within the sessions, I use silence, illustrations, objects, and metaphors to create a structure that moves you towards tackling life’s challenges, increased understanding, and clarity, evolving into acceptance of self and fulfilment.
