Why empathy is so important

As counsellors we know that empathy is crucial to meaningful human connection, indeed it’s one of the cornerstones of counselling practice. The pandemic has highlighted and exacerbated a growing void in human connectivity and empathy, causing rapidly rising rates of mental ill-health. And yet empathy is a human quality we can each so easily offer and makes a huge difference in breaking down the distances between us.
